2013 David L. Hadler Award

Dear EIM Members, Board of Directors, and Member Brokers:

At the 2010 Risk Manager’s Information Meeting, EIM announced the creation of the David L. Hadler Risk Management Award. The Award is presented annually to a Member Company risk manager who embodies the professionalism, commitment to excellence, and long standing dedication to risk management that were the hallmarks of David’s career.

Each year’s recipient receives a commemorative award and directs a $5,000 donation made by EIM in David’s name to the risk management or energy-related program at the college or university of the winner’s choice. EIM also maintains a plaque in its Tampa office that lists the names of all recipients, alongside a portrait of David.

This year, the David L. Hadler Risk Management Award nomination form is in an electronic format. The nomination can be completed by clicking on this link http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2013DLHAward and hitting “submit”. Please complete and submit the nomination form to EIM no later than November 15, 2013. The nominees will be presented to a committee consisting of EIM senior management and the Insurance Advisory Committee. The award recipient will be approved by the EIM Board of Directors and will be recognized at the February 2014 Risk Managers Information Meeting. Please direct any questions you may have to me at jdominguez@eimltd.com.

EIM has awarded $15,000 to university risk management programs since the award was created. Jack Hadsall, the 2012 award recipient has gone one step further. When Jack accepted the award at the Risk Managers Information Meeting in February, he used the Company’s $5,000 gift to create the “David L. Hadler, EIM Risk Management and Insurance Scholarship” at Missouri State University, with the intent of endowing the fund at $25,000. Within a very short time the University has selected the first recipient of a $1,000 scholarship and Jack has obtained the additional funding to endow the fund at the $25,000 level, enabling the annual scholarship to continue indefinitely. In addition to the University scholarship money, the scholarship recipient will receive a paid internship at City Utilities, working in the risk management area. We admire and appreciate Jack’s dedication to the profession of Risk Management.

The continued support of the David L. Hadler Risk Management Award benefits programs such as these and allows them to provide additional opportunities for risk management/ insurance students. We truly appreciate your continued support of this award that not only keeps the memory of a great leader alive, but also gives opportunities to develop the future leaders in our field.

Sincerely,

Jill Dominguez
